Doctor Who will begin filming this autumn, with Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa in the role of the Time Lord.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 14th season of the BBC show – and the first confirmed to be starring Gatwa – will start filming this November. It is expected to air in 2024.
The actor will be taking over the role from current Doctor Jodie Whittaker, who is set to bow out during a special episode airing this October as part of the BBC Centenary.

Earlier this year, How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris, who is set to star in the special, hinted that Gatwa may make his first appearance as the Time Lord during the 2023 celebrations, though this hasn't been confirmed.
The special will also see returning stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate reprising their roles of the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, as well as Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney playing a character named Rose.
Gatwa, who will appear again as Eric Effiong in the fourth season of Sex Education, was first announced as the new Doctor in May this year. His first full season in the role will be helmed by returning showrunner Russell T Davies.

"This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my upmost to do the same," Gatwa said at the time.
Doctor Who's next special premieres in October 2022 on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
