Doctor Who's Jenna Coleman teases return in Sandman season 2

That's as good as confirmation.

Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman has teased her epic return for the second season of Netflix’s The Sandman, after its renewal was announced just a few days ago.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a black-and-white still from the show as she looks up at her co-star Tom Sturridge, who plays Morpheus on the series.

She paired the picture with the caption: “To come… #TheSandman returns,” and then proceeded to tag the showrunner Neil Gaiman, Netflix, DC Comics and the official show account.

It was recently announced that The Sandman was being renewed for a second season after fans rallied hard behind the series, relentlessly asking Netflix for updates.

According to Deadline, the news arrived following a deleted confirmation tweet from the DC Comics Twitter account.

The now-deleted tweet read: "The dream continues. [The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless."

The show's renewal has since been confirmed by the official Netflix account on Twitter.

“Yes, it’s true: The Sandman will return to Netflix!” the tweet read.

“There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them… Now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead… And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell,” the streamer wrote, quoting showrunner Gaiman.

Neil Gaiman also posted a tweet of his own, writing: “The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened…”

Alongside Sturridge and Coleman, Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie, The Good Place's Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Boyd Holbrook and Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvill are also part of the cast.

The Sandman season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
