Doctor Who shares "up-close" look at David Tennant's new costume

Doctor Who has shared an "up close" look at David Tennant’s costume, which he wore during Jodie Whittaker’s final episode of the show.

In case you missed it, during Whittaker's last episode, she was regenerated into none other than David Tennant, much to the shock and delight of fans.

And now, we have an up close look at the costume he wore.

The costume is on display at the MCM Comic Con in London. The outfit, which includes the Tenth Doctor's classic blue coat and trainers, is displayed next to that of Donna Noble's, who will also be appearing in Doctor Who's 2023 specials, with Catherine Tate reprising the role.

"The beginning of a new era is always an exciting time and what better way to celebrate than by giving fans an opportunity to see the new Doctor’s costume in person," said Vanessa Hamilton, Doctor Who's director of brand.

"We know thousands of Doctor Who fans attend London Comic Con and, following its first appearance on Sunday’s episode, we hope fans will be as delighted to see the Fourteenth Doctor’s costume as we are to display it," she added.

David Tennant is set to reprise his role as the Doctor for the show’s 60th anniversary special, and as per his conversation with BBC News, his involvement was a complete accident.

The idea was born when he took part in a watchalong with Catherine Tate and Russell T Davies, which then turned into a serious proposition.

"That's where this all started," said Tennant. "At a certain time and day everyone would press play on a certain episode and some of the people who had been involved in those episodes were tweeting along.

"Me and Catherine would text, 'Wouldn't it be fun to do it again?' And Russell would say, 'We could do a one off, maybe they'd let us.'"

Doctor Who returns in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on BritBox in the UK.
