The Legend of Vox Machina season two spoilers follow.
The Legend of Vox Machina is legendary in more ways than one, and it will be for many years to come if that early season three renewal was anything to go by.
That's right. The series once inspired by the streaming show Critical Role has taken on a life of its own in animated form, and because of that success, it now looks like Prime Video has grown extremely confident in the franchise's future.
Not only was season three announced before season two even started to air, the creators have now been asked to develop a Mighty Nein animated series too following the success of Vox Machina.
Grab some mead and join us as we sing a Scanlan-style ditty to celebrate the future of Vox Machina and look at what lies ahead.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 potential release date: When will the series return?
The Legend of Vox Machina season three was announced in October, 2023, at New York Comic Con, a couple of months before season two started to air.
No official release date for season three has been revealed by Prime Video just yet, but given how the first two seasons started in early 2022 and early 2023 respectively, we'd bet our weight in gold that new episodes will arrive in early 2024.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 cast: who's in it?
Expect to see the majority of the cast return, especially as they also voice these same characters in the long-running Critical Role Campaign too:
• Taliesin Jaffe as Percy
• Laura Bailey as Vex’ahlia
• Liam O’Brien as Vax’ildan
• Marisha Ray as Keyleth
• Ashley Johnson as Pike
• Travis Willingham as Grog
• Sam Riegel as Scanlan
• Mathew Mercer as many, many characters
Notable guests have included the likes of David Tennant and Stephanie Beatriz in the past, so we might luck out with some more big-name cast additions like this in season three.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 plot: What will it be about?
Any given episode of Vox Machina tends to be even more dramatic than Scanlan at karaoke, but the season two finale was still one of the most action-packed yet.
After all hope was lost, the gang eventually managed to defeat one of the dragons who had been terrorising the kingdom all season. You know, the one they injured via entering his butthole. But in the battle, it looked like Scanlan died to save everyone. Thankfully, that was reversed, so everyone went off to celebrate their victory and regroup in Whitestone.
The victory dinner was short-lived though because Keeper Yennen suddenly changed form, revealing that she wanted to ally herself with Vox Machina to stop Thordak once and for all. It's not an ideal team-up, but the gang will need all the help they can get because the dragons now have a new army of baby dragons who we suspect will grow up real fast and real mean.
With that cliffhanger comes confirmation that season three of Vox Machina will continue the Chroma Conclave arc.
At New York Comic Con 2022, creator and voice actor Matthew Mercer said: "The Chroma Conclave arc is a very long arc. To try and adapt that into a single season is a very daunting task. We were trying desperately to figure out if that was possible. Thankfully, it’s not and we got greenlit for season three."
On top of that, we suspect that season three will also start to set up the Taryon Darrington storyline where a new member joins and Keyleth finally completes her Aramenté.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 trailer: when can I see it?
There's no new footage of Vox Machina's next season online just yet.
We'd expect that to arrive towards the end of 2023. In the meantime though, you can watch the Critical Role series online for spoilers right here.
