The Flash season 9 spoilers follow.

The final season of The Flash will bring back several major Arrowverse characters.

Deadline reports that the 13-episode swansong for the CW series will feature Keiynan Lonsdale reprising his Flash role as Wally West / Kid Flash.

Lonsdale had hinted at returning to The Flash over the weekend by sharing a GIF of a blue lightning bolt. He previously started off as Wally in The Flash, before switching over to DC's Legends of Tomorrow for a short stint between 2017 and 2018.

Other returning faces from the Arrowverse include Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy as Bloodwork and David Ramsey reprising his iconic role as John Diggle from Arrow.

Flash executive producer Eric Wallace said today: "As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans.

"Plus, the commanding presence and commitment to excellence actor/director David Ramsey brings to the screen each-and every time is truly inspiring. So, of course, it was a no-brainer to have Diggle join Team Flash in our final season!

"So, get ready for a very emotional reunion as John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash one, last time."

Diggle started as Oliver Queen's bodyguard in Arrow, but has since joined in with the superhero missions across the Arrowverse. He also memorably has ties to the Green Lantern Corps.

There has been no confirmation over whether Stephen Amell will reprise his role as Oliver Queen, though he hasn't ruled it out.

He recently told Instagram Live viewers: "People ask me if I'm going to come back for The Flash final season. I guess you're just going to have to watch. Haven't been asked, but, you know, that'd be fun."

The Flash airs on The CW in the US and Sky in the UK.
