Arrow boss's new superhero show has been officially scrapped by DC

No new Strange Adventures.

DC series Strange Adventures has been scrapped at HBO Max, filmmaker Kevin Smith has revealed.

Announced in 2019, the anthology series produced by Arrow's Greg Berlanti would've featured multiple superheroes across the DCEU. According to Clerks' Smith – who was set to direct and co-write an episode with Supergirl writer Eric Carrasco – the series isn't happening.

"I got a call the other day from Eric before all of this story broke and he was just like: 'Strange Adventures is officially dead.' And I was like: 'What the f**k, are you serious?!'" Smith broke the news during his podcast Hollywood Babble-On.

He continued: "I thought Strange Adventures being a casualty kind of made sense to me. Nobody necessarily knows these characters; it sounded like an expensive show."

In his podcast, Smith also weighed in on the recent cancellation of Batgirl. Last week, the upcoming film starring Leslie Grace in the titular role was shelved by HBO Max as part of the company's "strategic shift".

"It's an incredible bad look to cancel the Latina Batgirl movie," Smith said of the decision on his podcast.

"I don't give a sh** if the movie was absolute f***ing dogsh** – I guarantee you that it wasn't," he added.

"The two directors [Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah] who directed that movie did a couple of episodes of Ms. Marvel, and it was a wonderful f***ing show and they had more money to do Batgirl than they had to do an episode of Ms. Marvel."

Alongside Grace, the film would've marked the return of Michael Keaton as Batman, as well as featuring Brendan Fraser and JK Simmons.
