Arrow's Stephen Amell returning as Oliver Queen for The Flash season 9

Another character returns.

The Flash season 9 spoilers follow.

The CW has confirmed that Stephen Amell is the latest star to reprise his Arrowverse character for the final season of The Flash.

According to TVLine, Amell will guest star in season nine as Oliver Queen, despite the character having died in the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover.

Confirming the decision, showrunner Eric Wallace said: "As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen.

"After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen on his heroic path. That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of The Flash," he continued.

"We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see Grant and Stephen saving the world together again. And yes, there will be thrills, chills and tears."

Amell didn't go into detail on how the character would be returning, however the character was brought back to life in the comic books, so it's likely that the show could do the same.

Amell won't be the only actor returning for The Flash's final run either, with Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Bloodwork) and David Ramsey (John Diggle) all confirmed to be reprising their roles.
