The Flash's final season confirms Supergirl crossover

Gear up for a "very bizarre and frightening mystery".

The Flash season 9 has a neat Supergirl crossover up its sleeve.

Step forward Nia Nal (or Dreamer) played by Nicole Maines, because according to TV Insider, she's onboard for a "very special" episode next year.

"As Supergirl fans ourselves, all of us here on The Flash are SUPER-excited to have Nicole join Team Flash for a one-off adventure as we put together our final season," teased showrunner Eric Wallace.

"Nicole is a fantastically talented actress and I'm so happy she's agreed to be part of a very special season 9 episode where I get to cross off one of my 'Arrowverse Bucket List' team-ups: Having two fantastic reporters — Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) and Nia Nal — investigate their own very bizarre and frightening mystery."

While we gear up for that, fans of The Flash may not know that the ninth and final season picks up exactly one week following Reverse Flash's demise.

When a bunch of deadly Rogues descend on Central City, headed by a powerful entity – could it be The Chronarch? – Barry Allen and his pals must once again defy the mountainous odds to save the city.

Another Arrowverse cameo we're keeping our fingers crossed for is Stephen Amell as the Green Arrow.

In an Instagram Live Q&A earlier this month, the actor himself explained: "People ask me if I'm going to come back for The Flash final season. I guess you're just going to have to watch. Haven't been asked, but, you know, that'd be fun."

On what could draw him back to the role, Amell revealed in April: "I do look back very, very, very fondly on it.

"So if I can ever be of any help, if I can be of service to the Arrowverse in any way, shape or form, or better still take it to a new place, which I think would be the more interesting route to go, be that in a limited capacity or on a different platform, maybe one where we could show blood, that'd be really cool."

The Flash airs on The CW in the US. Sky Showcase and NOW air the show in the UK.
