Original Sin is the fifth series in the Pretty Little Liars franchise – following the original show that ran from 2010 to 2017, the 2012 web series Pretty Dirty Secrets, and the short-lived spin-offs Ravenswood (2013-2014) and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (2019).

Aguirre-Sacasa is the chief creative officer of Archie Comics and has created several huge TV series including Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Calhoon Bring served as a writer on the latter show and developed Original Sin alongside Aguirre-Sacasa.

The writer-producers co-wrote three of the show's ten episodes.

Pretty Little Things: Original Sin will premiere on HBO Max on July 28. No UK broadcaster or date has been announced.
