RuPaul's Drag Race US guest judge Loni Love has apologised to the season 15 contestants over the current run's biggest controversy.

The competition has moved over to its new home of MTV for 2023, and while that brings more brand recognition and a wider audience with record ratings, plenty of people are annoyed that the show has been edited down from 90 minutes with ads to 60 minutes.

Without the adverts, the episodes now come in at 40 minutes, and there are no extended versions on streaming service WOW Presents Plus.

As a result, the runways have been pared back substantially. Queens no longer offer confessional commentary on their outfits, the judges barely get any wisecracks in, and the entire segment is over very quickly.

Considering how well-documented it's been that the queens spend a lot of money making and buying outfits for the runways, it's understandable why there has been such a backlash, and now people involved in the show are having their say.

"My apologies to The Queens .. you spend time making these fabulous looks and deserve more than under two minutes to show them off...," Loni wrote on Twitter.

This season's queens have also been calling out the edits, with Loosey LaDuca tweeting: "These short runways are AC-TU-AL-LY killing me. All that time, money, and effort. Yeeeesh."

"Personally, I am not really shafted by the 2 second runways because it only takes 1 second to realize that something is either c**t or hot booboo garbáge (*joke*)," Luxx Noir London tweeted.

Eliminated queen Irene Dubois added: "If they played my runway for 7 seconds… But hey, 7 is better than 0."

No announcement has been made over whether full-length edits will be available later on or if future MTV seasons will be as cut down, but fans – and the cast – live in hope.

RuPaul's Drag Race US airs on MTV in the US and WOW Presents Plus in the UK.
