The Traitors US will be back at the roundtable for a new season.

The US version of the hit Dutch reality format has officially been renewed by US streaming service Peacock, which locks up a houseful of Faithfuls in a stately mansion with a group of traitors.

In the US version, celebrities like Kate Chastain of Below Deck, Brandi Glanville of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Survivor all-star Cirie Fields pitted against civilian players. X-Men star Alan Cumming will be back to host the second run.

In addition to a second season, Peacock has also announced a season 1 reunion special coming February 28, to be hosted by Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen (via Deadline).

Producer Stephen Lambert said today (February 2): "We hugely enjoyed making the US version of this hit format with NBC and giving Peacock’s audience a highly bingeable murder mystery game full of intrigue and dramatic twists.

"This is the game which shows how people judge each other, often leaping to false conclusions, in a way that’s revealing and entertaining, and we’re excited to be making a second season with Alan as together we build on the success of the first."

All ten episodes of The Traitors US were dropped on Peacock on January 12 and proved to be an instant social media sensation for the streaming service.

NBCUniversal executive Corie Henson said: "The Traitors is an ambitious, highly addictive and spontaneous format that keeps contestants and viewers on their toes.

"Alan Cumming is a well-dressed genius, the producers at Studio Lambert are brilliant storytellers and the show is the perfect mix of drama and suspense to keep our Traitors and Faithfuls craving more."

A UK version had previously aired on BBC One, featuring many of the same challenges but with Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman as presenter rather than Alan Cumming.
