Sam Thompson has addressed a sweet video he recently posted of himself with girlfriend Zara McDermott on his Instagram, where he wrote that "she said yes".
The former Made In Chelsea star was flooded with congratulations at the time, but not all was as it seemed, as the rest of the clip showed Zara had only said yes to filming a TikTok video with him.
"Stop congratulating me now it’s got way out of hand!!!," he later added to the video.
Talking exclusively to Digital Spy, Sam said he wasn't worried that his followers wouldn't believe him if he were to share news of an engagement.
"I don’t give a shit. Only because I don’t need people to sit there and say congratulations," he said. "My social media is for fun and the moment you start really needing people to like something, I think is the moment you might need to step away from it.
"I’ve always been incredibly fortunate that for me, it’s only ever been a good laugh, having some fun and joking around. And I’m doing it because I want to."
He continued: "It might come across the boy who cried wolf a little bit, but at the end of the day, if a small section of people go ‘congratulations’ and the rest went ‘nah, he’s taking the piss’, I’d still be engaged.
"Luckily I don’t think my life has ever needed to revolve around Instagram, so I can be a bit more free with it than other people can."

"I almost fell into my dream job without even realising. It’s so cool to see ‘radio presenter’. It means a lot to have a career. It’s really cool."
