Great British Bake Off 2022 finale spoilers follow.
The bakes were high tonight (November 15) in The Great British Bake Off as Syabira Yusoff was revealed to be the winner of the 2022 series.
Arguably the fan favourite of the competition, Syabira beat fellow finalists Sandro and Abdul to the coveted prize, winning over judges with her "strange" orangutan sculptural Showstopper.
Following the last Showstopper challenge of the series, where all three bakers wowed with their flavours but disappointed with their presentation, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith announced Syabira as the final Star Baker of 2022.

"I can't believe it," she said. "It's unbelievable, this is the biggest achievement in my life. All the hard work, all of the trial and error, it's all worth it. I'm very, very proud."
"I'm coming out as a new person after this competition. I became more confident and I trust my instinct," she added.
The baker then dedicated her win to "the girls", saying that it's been a while since a woman won the show: "So, here you go, all girls, I'm here, got one for all of you, we can do anything we want as long as we put all of our heart and work for it."

"Syabira can be a bit of a risk taker with her flavours, and it's worked," said judge Paul. "She is an incredible baker."
"I'm so proud of Syabira, she deserved it. She's that queen of flavours, she fully deserves this, I'm so happy for her," added Sandro of her win.
Before the big win was announced, bakers began with the Signature challenge where they made a summer picnic that celebrated the planet, and a disastrous Technical challenge saw bakers create flat summer pudding bombes.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix. Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Tom Allen and Jo Brand, airs on Fridays at 8pm on Channel 4.
