Great British Bake Off reveals elimination ahead of semi-finals

"It's the quarter final and we're expecting nothing but perfection."

The Great British Bake Off spoilers follow.

It's Pastry Week on The Great British Bake Off, and we've said goodbye to one more baker, revealing who has made it to the semi finals.

Tonight's (November 1) quarter-final flake-off saw the bakers contend with a number of pastry challenges, but ultimately we said goodbye to Maxy. This means that Abdul, Janusz, Sandro and Syabira are in the semis.

Starting with the Signature challenge, bakers were tasked with creating 12 identical sweet vol-au-vents, the puff pastry cases that typically house a savoury filling.

Abdul, the only baker in the tent without a Star Baker award, hoped to wow judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with his coconut and berry vol-au-vents, but they were under baked.

With the competition heating up, the judges were particularly ruthless, and Maxy and Sandro failed to impress with their wonky and undercooked vol-au-vents.

For the Technical challenge, bakers were tasked with making deep-fried spring rolls and a dipping sauce. Maxy came in last place while Sandro took first in the challenge because Janusz misplaced one of his spring rolls.

Lastly, bakers had four hours to make a storybook scene consisting of eight pies, which saw Abdul's 'Treasure Island' and Syabira's 'Jack and the Beanstalk' impress judges with their flavours.

Taking home Star Baker for the third week running was Syabira, and it was Maxy's time to leave the tent after her 'Spicy Twinkle Stars' scene fell flat.

"I can't believe it. I had a bad, bad week. I knew it was coming," Maxy said after departing for good.

"It was really sad to lose Maxy. it was very close between Sandro and Maxy," Paul Hollywood said of the elimination.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix. Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Tom Allen and Jo Brand, airs on Fridays at 8pm on Channel 4.
