The Great British Bake Off spoilers follow.

The baker leaving the tent during The Great British Bake Off's Custard Week has called the show "one of the hardest things" he's ever done in his goodbye message.

Tuesday's (October 25) ode to custard challenged the bakers to test their expertise with floating islands in the Technical and creamy gateau for the Showstopper, but Kevin just couldn't quite impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Even though Kevin left the ten this week, he still reflected on the positive experience of joining the extended Bake Off family in a note posted on social media.

"Thank you to whoever had the ridiculous notion to let me loose in the tent," he joked. "I hope I've brought a little joy to the show and those who cheered me on at home."

Kevin added: "In our part of Scotland, we take life seriously but don't take ourselves seriously and so I shall continue!"

Somewhat surprisingly, this week wasn't the show's Halloween special, as that actually aired last week and saw Dawn having to say goodbye when her ghoulish offerings were a bit too terrifying.

"To anyone thinking about applying, do it, and if at first you don't get on, try again," she wrote to fans in her own exit message.

"It will be up there as one of the best things you've ever done."

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix. Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Tom Allen and Jo Brand, airs on Fridays at 8pm on Channel 4.
