Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs The World star Icesis Couture has weighed in on her exit from the show.

The Canadian queen won the second season of Canada's Drag Race and returned for the spin-off, before announcing her exit in episode four.

After leaving the show, Icesis explained she wanted to prioritise her mental health.

"I wasn't in the best mindset going in there to begin with," she revealed during a watch party at Roscoe's.

Icesis continued: "I was on the tour and I had to leave the tour early because I ended up breaking my leg. To be completely honest, I spent like $70,000 on the show, and the doctors didn't want me to go on the show and wanted me to cancel everything.

"I just convinced myself I was going to do it and I would be okay to do it. I think that part just f**ked with me. It's really hard to pretend like you're okay when you're really not."

She also said "the pressure of being on show" and not being allowed to speak to other queens when off camera took a toll on her mental wellbeing, saying: "The mental warfare that it takes to just literally go through the show while being secluded and I'm not allowed to talk to anybody. It was just a lot.”

Icesis then claimed she didn't always see eye to eye with production, one of the reasons which led to her decision to withdraw from the competition.

"There's a lot of stuff that happened with production that I don't necessarily agree with," the queen said.

"I just got to a point with the show where I was just like, 'I don't agree with what's happening here. I don't agree with what you guys are doing to me. I don't agree with the way that I feel. I think it's just my time to go'."

World of Wonder didn't immediately return Digital Spy's request for comment.

Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World airs on BBC Three in the UK and WOW Presents Plus in the US.
