Marvel star Florence Pugh opens up about Zach Braff breakup

"It’s all very new."

Marvel star Florence Pugh has opened up about her breakup with Zach Braff.

Pugh announced last August that she and Braff had ended their relationship earlier that year but had wanted to keep things private.

Opening up to Vogue, Pugh described her single status as "all very new" when asked if she was keeping a home in LA, adding: "My breakup has been very new, so I’m figuring that out."

During their relationship, the couple faced criticism for their 21-year age gap. Speaking about the criticism they received, Pugh said: "We weren’t in anyone’s faces.

"It was just that people didn’t like it. They imagined me with someone younger and someone in blockbusters. I think young relationships in Hollywood are so easily twisted because they add to the gossip sites.

"It’s exciting to watch. And I think I was in a relationship that didn’t do any of that."

Despite their break-up, Pugh stars in Braff's new film A Good Person, which was written and directed by the Scrubs actor.

Speaking to Vogue, Braff revealed he wrote the part specifically for Pugh, saying: "I quite simply think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation.

"She’s just magnetic. You cannot take your eyes off of her. And it’s not just her beauty and it’s not just her acting ability, it’s that thing, that magic thing that transcends the screen, where anyone and everyone goes: I want to see whatever this person does."

Pugh confirmed her break-up with Braff during an interview with Harper's Bazaar, where she said the couple had tried to keep their separation private because, "it's been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on".

"We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we're not together. So we've done that."

She added: "I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it."
