Marvel fans think Ant-Man 3's trailer solves Shang-Chi mystery

Coincidence?

The first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has arrived, and some Marvel fans seem to think it reveals more than just a first glimpse into Phase 5.

The trailer introduces us to the threequel's new baddie Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) and his familiar-looking headquarters, which has led some eagle-eyed viewers to the conclusion it solves a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings mystery.

Taking to Twitter, fans pointed out the ring-like structures of Kang's kingdom bare a striking resemblance to that of Shang-Chi's Ten Rings, suggesting the rings are somehow connected to both Kang and the Quantam Realm.

There hasn't been an official confirmation of this yet, so while it seems possible, it could also be pure coincidence.

Whatever happens though, director Peyton Reed has teased that we're in for a wild ride when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is released. "Things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently," he claimed at Comic-Con back in July.

But that's not the only Marvel movie fans have had their speculations about. The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer also dropped earlier this month, confirming someone new would donning the titular superhero's suit following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.

The answer to who's in the suit is being kept tight-lipped for the time being, but many fans think they've already cracked the case: T'Challa's sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright).

Again, there's been no official confirmation from Marvel, but Wright hasn't exactly shut down the rumours either.

"That's a tricky question to answer," she told Empire. "I had a chat about it with Ryan [Coogler, the director] and Chad when we were making Black Panther, and we touched on it briefly. When I realised I was playing Shuri, it was something that I really looked forward to."

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is released in cinemas on February 17, 2023.
