A new image from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has dropped, showing The Good Place star William Jackson Harper in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

The actor, who played Chidi Anagonye on the NBC comedy show, will assume the role of Quaz for the upcoming superhero film, which is the third instalment in the Ant-Man franchise.

Harper had joined the cast back in October, but his role was kept under wraps until last week, where his character’s name and a very brief description was revealed.

The only thing we know about Quaz is that he’s a telepath who operates in the Quantum Realm, with the character being pictured alongside (via Empire Magazine) freedom fighter Jentorra (Katy O’Brian).

With his role remaining somewhat of a mystery, some fans have speculated that Quaz is in fact Quasar, a character from the comics; others have posited that he could be a character from Fantastic Four.

The latest trailer for the film, which releases on February 17, showcased Jonathan Majors in the villainous role of Kang the Conqueror, and Marvel president Kevin Feige teased the character’s motivations.

“Kang's a very powerful person, but when we meet him he’s in a position where he needs to get that power back,” he told Empire. “He has a ship and a device that would allow him to go anywhere he wants if he can get it online. If only he had access to genius scientists with Pym particles.”

With its status as the first film in Phase Five of the MCU, director Peyton Reed revealed that the film would have a “profound” impact on the franchise: “Jeff Loveness, who wrote this movie, is writing The Kang Dynasty as well, so there’s been a lot of discussion about the impact that this appearance of Kang the Conqueror makes. There are big things in store,” he said.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in cinemas on February 17.
