Nicolas Cage has opened up about why he has no interest in re-teaming up with Pedro Pascal for The Mandalorian.
Cage and Pascal starred together in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and struck up a solid friendship off-screen as a result, which naturally led to many wondering if that meant a Cage appearance in Pascal's The Mandalorian could be on the cards.
Unfortunately, the man himself has just shot that idea down. In a new interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Cage said he isn't a big fan of Star Wars but rather prefers fellow sci-fi franchise Star Trek.

"I’m not really down. I'm a Trekkie, man. I'm on the Star Trek Enterprise. That's where I roll," Cage said, explaining that he grew up watching William Shatner as Captain Kirk in The Original Series but has also kept up to date with the latest Star Trek movies.
"I thought [Chris] Pine was terrific in the movies. I think the movies are outstanding. I like the political and the sociological [messages]. To me what science fiction is really all about and why it's such an important genre is that really you can say whatever you want, however, you feel," Cage said.
"You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future, and without people just jumping on you, you can really express your thoughts like Orwell or whomever in the science fiction format. And Star Trek really embraced that."

Cage finished: "I'm not in the Star Wars family. I'm in the Star Trek family."
Star Wars or Star Trek would add to Cage's already-eclectic filmography, but one genre is still missing from that list. Cage recently said he wants to do a musical one day.
"I haven't done a musical yet. I'd like to try that. I'm not much of a singer. I did sing okay in Wild At Heart, I thought, but I've since blown my voice out singing 'Purple Rain' incorrectly in karaoke bars."
"I think I'd make a good Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar."
The Mandalorian seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Disney+. Season 3 is in production. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
