Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has been cast as the lead in Paramount+'s upcoming drama series A Gentleman in Moscow.
Based on Amor Towles' bestselling novel of the same name, the show will follow Count Alexander Rostov (McGregor) in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution as he learns that his opulent past has put him on the wrong side of history.
Spared execution, the Russian aristocrat is instead imprisoned for life in the Hotel Metropol, where he tries to eke out his existence as some of the most turbulent years in Russian history take place outside the hotel's doors.

The Last Kingdom writer Ben Vanstone will pen the series, while McGregor, Tom Harper, Xavier Marchand and the novel's author Towles will executive produce.
"It's an amazing, wonderful story and I am very excited to get to play such a fabulous role," McGregor said of his casting in the series, which is set to begin production later this year.
Harper added: "The book is a rare and delicious treat and I fell in love with it the moment I picked it up six years ago. We are thrilled that Amor entrusted this brilliant team with bringing the Metropol to life and couldn't be more delighted that Ewan will be playing the Count."

McGregor made his critically acclaimed comeback as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney+ series earlier this year.
While the rumours are yet to be officially confirmed by Disney, it's likely this won't be the last we've seen of McGregor in the role either, with a second season supposedly in the works.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
