Ahsoka series confirms live-action debut of Star Wars Rebels fan favourites

Lightsabers at the ready.

Ahsoka on Disney+ will introduce Hera Syndulla and Ezra Bridger to the live-action world for the very first time.

This thrilling element was revealed in the Star Wars spin-off show's teaser trailer at the Star Wars Celebration event this week, giving Star Wars Rebels lovers something to really get excited about.

Incase you're not up to speed on the lore, Hera is the New Republic leader, while Ezra was a bit of street urchin who came to know the Jedi ways before going missing.

According to Den of Geek, Ezra and Imperial villain Grand Admiral Thrawn will have been off-map for around a decade by the time the series begins, meaning the former is likely to be an adult.

No casting announcements have been made as of yet, though.

Elsewhere, just last month, Ahsoka/The Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett director Bryce Dallas Howard opened up about her long-lasting love of a galaxy far, far away.

"I learned about Star Wars first through the toys. And when I was old enough to watch the movies, of course we watched the movies. And then I got even luckier, because when I was 15 years old, I went to a summer camp, and one of my friends at that summer camp is a woman named Natalie Portman (who played Padmé Amidala).

"And right after we were at this camp together, she went and filmed the prequels. Since I knew George and I was friends with Natalie, and she was pretty young, she wanted to have a friend come out and visit. And so I got to go out to the set," she continued.

"So when I actually got to direct on Mandalorian, I didn't realise how well I knew Star Wars, but I knew it pretty well. Of course there's always more to learn."

Ahsoka is due out in late-2023.

The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 are streaming now on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+, while Rise of Skywalker is also on Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW.
