Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard has responded to fan requests for a sequel to his 2018 film, saying that he doesn't believe it's "a Lucasfilm priority."
Speaking to NME Magazine, the director said: "The only discussion that I’m aware of about a sequel for Solo is coming from the fans at this point," he said.
"I don’t think it’s a Lucasfilm priority, as I understand it."

He added: "But there’s some great characters launched, and the folks from Lucasfilm love the fans and really do listen so I would never say never – but I’m not aware of any concrete plans right now to extend the story or deal with that particular set of characters."
Solo: A Star Wars Story tells the backstory of a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), exploring how he met his co-pilot and long-term companion Chewbacca and his relationship with Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke).
While Howard's comments suggest that we won't be seeing a Solo sequel anytime soon, one person who would like to see a second film is writer Jonathan Kasdan.

Kasdan recently revealed that he had always been "haunted" by a plothole in the film, which he hoped to retcon it in a future instalment.
"If Dryden Vos is so concerned about exposing his gang in the heist, why does he send his most trusted aid to be the most visible member of the team that steals the coaxium?" he said (via The Hollywood Reporter).
"It always drove me crazy, and it was a problem that I was eager to retcon in a sequel."
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
