Star Wars writer Jonathan Kasdan has opened up about a plot hole from the spinoff movie Solo: A Star Wars Story that has always "haunted" him.

Solo explores Han Solo's past and features Han (Alden Ehrenreich) working with a gang led by Paul Bettany's villainous Dryden Vos. Vos' most trusted aid is Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), who just so happens to be the love of Han's life at the time.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kasdan talked about a problem within this story that has always lingered in the back of his head.

"I’ll tell you the biggest problem that has always haunted me about Solo. I’m going to reveal the writer’s nightmare right now," said, who wrote Solo with his father Lawrence.

"If Dryden Vos is so concerned about exposing his gang in the heist, why does he send his most trusted aid to be the most visible member of the team that steals the coaxium?"

He continues: "It seems to me that he’s going to have to kill her almost immediately just to separate himself from that job. So it always drove me crazy, and it was a problem that I was eager to retcon in a sequel."

There are currently no plans for a sequel for Solo, nor are any Disney+ shows in the works. However, Kasdan, who also co-wrote the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, has said that he would be up for revisiting Clarke's Qi'ra, in particular, in some way.

Specifically, Kasdan referenced Marvel's Disney+ special Werewolf by Night as a potential format for future Star Wars content.

"As the years have gone by and there has been more Star Wars, my enthusiasm for doing more Solo has waned only because there’s so much great Star Wars out there right now," Kasdan said.

"But the thing that I would love to revisit is the relationship between the two of them because there’s so much fun and complexity to be found in the relationship between Han and Qi’ra."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
