Star Wars' Daisy Ridley has signed on to star in a new mystery series The Christie Affair.
The show, which is based on Nina de Gramont's best-selling novel of the same name, which reimagines the unexplained eleven-day disappearance of author Agatha Christie in 1926. Ridley will also be an executive producer on the Miramax TV project.
The script for The Christie Affair will be adapted by Juliette Towhidi, who recently worked on Apple TV+ miniseries The Essex Serpent, starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston.
The synopsis reads: "In 1926, when her husband's affair became public, Agatha Christie vanished for 11 days.
"In this reimagining, told through the eyes of her husband's mistress Nan O'Dea (Ridley), Nan and Agatha become entwined in each other's lives in ways neither expected."
In the novel, O'Dea is a fictionalised version of Agatha's first husband's real-life lover.
"We couldn't be more grateful to be joined by Daisy on this incredible project – as both the star as well as our producing partner," said Marc Helwig, head of worldwide television at Miramax TV.
"Daisy is one of the most captivating and talented actors working today, and we're excited for her to bring Nina de Gramont's fascinating 'Nan O'Dea' to life."
Ridley will next be seen in indie drama Sometimes I Think About Dying, which wrapped production last year.
Based on Kevin Armento's play Killers, and the subsequent short film, the movie follows Fran, a young woman who is constantly contemplating her own mortality.
However, her fascination with this topic is challenged when she develops a connection with, and starts dating, a colleague. Could this new romance this change Fran's perspective on life?
