DC boss James Gunn has taken to Twitter to address recent rumours that The Kissing Booth and Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi has been cast as Superman.

The DC movie universe is going through a major period of change now that Gunn and Peter Safran have been put in charge, with the future of a lot of characters and their actors up in the air.

One thing we do know is that Henry Cavill won't be back as Superman, disappointing fans who were excited at the Black Adam credits scene teasing his return.

This has led to rumours that 25-year-old Elordi would portray a younger Man of Steel in DC films going forward.

Responding to the rumours, Gunn tweeted that there's no truth to them, as the role remains uncast.

"My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet," Gunn wrote.

"Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn't.

"We'll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won't be one of them."

The filmmaker also recently responded the rumour that Wonder Woman wouldn't be part of DC's initial three-year transitional plan. Addressing a fan on Twitter, Gunn wrote: "I hereby debunk it (only because it's not true)".

Meanwhile, The Batman director Matt Reeves told Collider earlier this week that he's set to meet with Gunn and DC's new movie management to discuss his version of the Dark Knight.

"I had this dream for the way I wanted that to play out and that's part of what I'm going to be talking to them about in a few weeks," Reeves said.

"They're going to be talking to me about what they're doing in their 10-year plan, or certainly what's in the near future as well, so that we can understand that we're not – it's air traffic control — we don't want to be crashing into each other," he continued.

"We want to support each other. I'm super excited."
