Neighbours star Ryan Moloney has teased the possibility of a time jump when the soap returns this year.
Fans were left shocked and delighted when it was confirmed at the end of last year that the Australian show would be returning, despite its previous cancellation and subsequent finale last summer.
While firm details of the Amazon Freevee revival, including when it will pick up, have remained under wraps, Moloney – who is returning as Toadie Rebecchi for the reboot – has suggested they could move things forward a couple of years in the soap's universe.

"We’re meant to start filming in April and it’ll go to air later in the year," he told the Sunday Post. "They said they were thinking of maybe jumping ahead a couple of years but I don’t know.
"I don’t even know who is coming back apart from Alan, Jackie, Stefan and myself. I suppose the exciting thing is while we’re doing the tour, I expect scripts to begin landing in our inboxes, so it’ll be, 'Guess what I read today? I can’t tell you!'."
As mentioned, alongside Moloney, Neighbours has confirmed that Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) and Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) will also be returning.

Speaking in December about their revival plans, Amazon Studios head of content and programming Lauren Anderson told Variety: “We’re going to do everything we have to do – in front of and behind the camera – to make sure that we’re delivering a consistent series.
"We are continuing the show to at least the same level of what audiences have loved for 37 years. The most important thing to us is to make sure that those who love the show already continue to love the show."
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
