Neighbours star Alan Fletcher has opened up about the shock save of the iconic soap.
Neighbours was cancelled last year, prompting many former stars such as Margot Robbie, Jason Donovan, Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce to participate in a grand finale. However, the soap was then saved by Amazon Freevee.
Now, Fletcher, who plays Neighbours legend Karl Kennedy, has told Good Morning Britain (via The Press and Journal) how "pleased" he is that the soap has been saved.

"I had nothing to do with it. I can’t claim any credit," Fletcher joked.
"But you know, more than five million people watched the last episode in the UK and it was the highest rating programme here in Australia.
"I think that people just recognise that and realise this show is too popular to let slip, so we’re very, very pleased that Amazon has picked up the show."
Neighbours will officially return later this year, with new episodes streaming on Amazon Freevee.

Fletcher previously reacted to the news that the soap has been saved in November last year. He tweeted: "The most incredible news has just landed. @neighbours is back in a deal with @amazonfreevee and @channel10au. Returns in 2023!!!!!!!!!"
Jason Donovan also reacted to the news at the time, tweeting: "Neighbours has helped shine a light on Australian culture, provided endless opportunities for our industry and kept fans entertained for decades! Thrilled to hear that @neighbours will return to our screens 2023 @AmazonFreevee."
Neighbours returns in the second half of 2023 with new episodes streaming free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.
