Coronation Street confirms returning character in Zeedan Nazir storyline

Zeedan is forced to face up to his past.

Coronation Street has confirmed that Zeedan Nazir's estranged wife Marrium will be returning to the show next week.

Marrium arrives on the cobbles to confront Zeedan over the death of her villainous father Hashim.

Hashim suffered a heart attack at the Nazir house in December 2021. He'd been threatening Zeedan and causing trouble for the Nazirs for several weeks.

Zeedan and his sister Alya delayed calling an ambulance for Hashim, realising that their problems would disappear if he didn't survive. Ryan Connor arrived on the scene and tried to help Hashim by calling an ambulance, but it was already too late.

In next week's scenes, Marrium returns and reveals that she finally knows the truth – telling Zeedan that she can't believe he and Alya stood back and watched Hashim die.

Zeedan is horrified and begs Marrium not to go to the police.

Later, Alya tries to resolve the tensions by speaking to Marrium at the café.

Alya thinks that Marrium and Zeedan can still make their marriage work. However, as Marrium lives in London, Alya senses that Zeedan is sacrificing his relationship to stay in Weatherfield and take care of her instead.

Keen to show that she can get her life back on track after the stabbing incident, Alya tells Zeedan that she doesn't need his protection. She proves it by bravely returning to work at Speed Daal.

Zeedan remains unconvinced, telling Alya that he'll be sticking around on the cobbles whether she likes it or not.

Later in the week, Marrium joins the Nazir family for Alya's birthday dinner.

As Zeedan kisses his wife, can they find a way to move forward? And where does Zeedan's future lie?
