Home and Away spoilers follow.
Home and Away has revealed an early setback for Mali Hudson in his romance storyline.
The newcomer first appeared on Australian screens last month, and will soon form a bond with Rose Delaney (via TV Week).
In episodes that air in Australia this week, Mali will ask Rose out after immediately being attracted to her.

She is surprised by his prompt advance, but agrees to the offer after acknowledging the interest is mutual.
As they meet in the evening, sparks fly as the pair have an instant connection, sharing a tender kiss before they part ways.
The niceties don’t last long, however, with Mali shocked to find out that Rose is a police officer after spotting her in uniform. He subsequently avoids her, dampening the spark that was previously there.
With the pair coincidentally attending the same party, Rose confronts Mali and demands an answer as to why he started avoiding her. Will Mali confess? And just what does he have against the law?

Kyle Shilling became the first Indigenous actor to appear on the soap when he was cast as Mali, and subsequently revealed he wanted the character’s family to be introduced to Summer Bay and to explore Mali's cultural heritage.
“I can’t wait to have that moment of hopefully bringing cousins, family members and friends in,” he said. “[Hopefully] to do this really beautiful kind of corroboree ceremony celebration for something to do with Mali or a friend or a family member.
“I’m really excited for that. I think it’s going to be positive. Mali is this positive person who loves his family and loves his culture, but there’s always going to be negativity around positivity. You can’t do this kind of job and not expect that.”
Shilling will be introduced to UK viewers when Mali enters Summer Bay in March.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
