Strictly Come Dancing reveals stars' emotional reactions to making final

Ups and downs galore as usual in the results show.

Strictly Come Dancing spoilers follow.

Strictly Come Dancing's Monday night results show was an emotional one. Will Mellor and Nancy Xu were sent home at the semi-finals stage a week before the final, but they weren't the only ones shedding a few tears.

Carlos Gu and Molly Rainford and Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystał were the first two couples to be sent through to next week's final, and it was too much to take in for a moment when they spoke to host Claudia Winkleman about the good news.

Carlos and Molly survived four dance-offs to make it to the final, and Molly said that getting through felt like a win in itself.

Carlos, meanwhile, was very emotional as Claudia congratulated him on making the final in his first-ever year on Strictly.

“I’m so happy, I’m so happy. I’ve made the final with Molly, I’m so happy, thank you,” a teary Carlos told Molly before giving her a big hug.

Carlos added: "The final for us is winning the competition. I have nothing more to offer but I just want you to enjoy and have the best time in your life.”

Hamza then spoke to Claudia about the "whirlwind journey" he's been on across this series, which he thought would end for him after week two.

"Never, ever, ever did I think I’d be in the final. Week one, I just thought, just go out there and have fun. Week two is when people get voted off and I was getting ready to hear my name but, no, it’s been an absolutely incredible journey," Hamza said.

"Jowita, you have been my mast throughout this journey, showing me where to go, keeping me together. I’ve had such a wonderful time. I just can’t thank you enough. I promise you, you’re amazing, you’re absolutely amazing."

Strictly Come Dancing's final airs on Saturday (December 17) at 7.05pm on BBC One, while spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows also stream on BBC iPlayer.
