Netflix's You is back for its fourth season and, this time around, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is the one being stalked.

When this detail was revealed in the trailer, we had our own theory suggesting that it could be Jenna Ortega's character Ellie Alves, back for revenge for the death of her sister Delilah in season two.

Alas, part one of season four dropped on Thursday (February 9) and Ellie was nowhere to be seen, though showrunner Sera Gamble has said that Ortega was expected to return for the new episodes.

"We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, 'Oh, Jenna is doing some show'," she told IndieWire.

Gamble is, of course, talking about Ortega's titular role in Netflix's record-breaking show Wednesday, which propelled the young actress to stardom and earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Although season two of the Addams Family spinoff has been confirmed and Ortega is sure to be busy, an Ellie return could still be on the cards.

"It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year," Gamble continued. "We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again."

While Wednesday was major hit for Netflix, Ortega's iconic dance scene to 'Goo Goo Muck' by The Cramps was a big hit on TikTok.

Despite being one of the show's most talked about moments, though, Ortega recently said that she could have done better.

"Some of the moves I had planned, some of it was [improvised]. That was one of the scenes that I stay awake at night thinking about," she explained.

"There was so much I could have done and should have done. So, the fact that anyone has shown any appreciation or even tried it themselves is unfathomable to me."

Wednesday streams on Netflix – season 2 has been confirmed.
